Trailer: The Starving Games Trailer 2013 (The Hunger Games Parody)

Set in the most depressing corner of a post-apocalyptic future, our hero Kantmiss Evershot (Maiara Walsh) volunteers to take her manipulative younger sister’s place in the 75th annual “Starving Games.” In doing so, she must leave behind her smoldering just-a-friend Dale (Brant Daugherty) and team up with the geeky baker’s son Peter Malarkey (Cody Allen Christian) in a fight for her life. But wait, there’s more! She could also win an old ham, a coupon for a footlong sub at a six-inch price, and a partially-eaten pickle! In The Starving Games, Friedberg and Seltzer’s sixth cinematic spoof of popular box-office hits, the prolific parody duo has its sights trained on the adventure blockbuster The Hunger Games! It’s all the laughs and half the calories as they sling dozens of cock-eyed, barbed arrows at sci-fi, action and fantasy films from The Avengers and Oz the Great and Powerful to pop culture characters and celebrities like Harry Potter and Taylor Swift.

LivingDeadGirl.net: The Starving Games 2013 PosterWhen it comes to parody, it’s usually a hit or miss. 95% parodies are a definite miss with story beyond stupidity that you feel your IQ is lowered every passing minutes of watching. I’m quite a fan of some parody movies though, like the first and second Scary Movies, when there are The Wayans Bros. I love them, especially Marlon because I like how wacky he is. If you’re not used to their type of jokes, then you would hate it with passion. Ever since their parody of Scary Movies became popular, many other parodies emerged and well, not a good thing.

One example of parody movie that I really like is ‘Dracula: Dead & Loving It‘ starring Leslie Nielsen. It came out in 1995. Now THAT’S a funny spoof without having to resort to really dumb and nasty toilet humor. The story just flows nicely. But spoof is supposed to be stupid, so that’s expected. If you expect intelligent type of humor, wrong genre, buddy.

Back to The Starving Games trailer, the movie is directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer who also directed ‘Vampires Suck‘ and wrote Scary Movie and some other spoof. Vampires Suck was actually watchable for me surprisingly and it was very true to the original movie it was spoofing so I liked it. They had good actors as well that almost resembles the original actors.. and from the trailer, looks like this movie have really good looking actors as well.. that guy who plays Peeta Mellark is super cute. I’d watch this movie just to see him.

Movie will be released on November 8th 2013 in the US.

Here’s another trailer of the movie with different scenes and characters shown.
